With so many types of wedding gowns on the market, you might not be sure what the different types, or silhouettes, of wedding gowns are. We have put together a list of the different types of wedding gowns that are popular today, as well as a picture and short description of each.

| A-LINE A dress that doesn't have a defined waistline. It fits through the torso and then the skirt flares out from the waist. |
BALLGOWN This is also known as a traditional wedding dress (think Cinderella). Ballgowns have very full skirts that gather at the natural waistline. |

| EMPIRE This particular style, there is no defined waistline. Instead, the skirt will start under the bustline and will flow into an A-Line style. |
PRINCESS Princess and A-Line gowns are very similar, but they do have a slight difference. Princess gowns has noticeable verticle panels, which the A-line does not. |

| SHEATH This type of gown is a straight, very form-fitting gown. |
