Sometimes it happens; the wedding has been called off completely, or will need to be rescheduled. If this happens, the following wording is used (you don't need to give a reason why it was called off/rescheduled):
regret to inform you that
the invitations to
their daughter's wedding on Saturday, the first of April
two thousand four
have been cancelled
